This morning when I looked into my tank for Baculum sp. I could not believe my eyes. A MALE OF PSG 144. :o One of the Nymphs had turned out to be a gynandromorph male in a partenogenetic culture. I have had two C. morosus males before, but I was really faszinated to see a PSG 144 one (which I am keeping for ca. three years now), as I had never expected it (usually it becomes clear if it is one after the 4th moult allready). It is so beautiful. Bright shiny green and brown, thin, long legs and antennae and a grey head. I will take some photos this evening and try to put it on the web. Now I am wondering if all species are capable for gynandromorphism and how this process really works.I know it has something to with insect males having XO chromosomes instead of XY, but what exactly makes a female change into a male ?
